How to make a ladybug cake topper

A few weeks ago I made the ladybug cake topper on the picture above. It’s very easy and fun to make. I will show you in this blog how you can make this ladybug cake topper.

What do you need?

  1. Rice crispy
  2. Marshmallow
  3. Fondant (available on Browny’s Cakes webshop)
  4. Medium consisteny royal icing (available on Browny’s Cakes webshop)
  5. Edible glue (available on Browny’s Cakes webshop)
  6. Round cookie cutter (available on Browny’s Cakes webshop)
  7. Cake wires (available on Browny’s Cakes webshop)
Let’s start  making this cute ladybug cake topper
Put your marshmallow for a few seconds in the microwave and stir the rice crispy with the melted marshmallow.
It will be sticky so use a little bit of crisco for your hands. Crisco will help against the stickyniss.
Take your rice crispy out of your bowl and start forming the head and the body of the ladybug.

Before covering the ladybug with fondant you need to smooth the rice crispy.To smooth the ladybug I use royale icing. Royale icing is the best frosting to use because it will dry very fast. In another blog I will put the recipe for how to make Royale icing.

If you want an easy way to make Royale icing you can buy Royale icing mix on Browny’s Cakes webshop. You only need to add water to the mixture and you have Royale icing.

On below pictures you can see step by step how I cover the ladybug with fondant. Make sure to knead your fondant so you don’t have cracks in your fondant. With your smoother you can also smooth your fondant.
